Job Description

Na’atik Language and Cultural Institute is looking for a qualified, enthusiastic, creative and independent English teacher for primary school children and teenagers of all levels. Na’atik is a young, local, non-profit language institute located in the Yucatan Peninsula in the ‘authentic’ Mexican Maya town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo, approximately 3 hours south of Cancun and 2 hours north of Belize 1-hour inland from the Caribbean Sea. Na’atik offers accessible, high-quality English courses to increase access to education and opportunities in the Maya Zone. Our English language program is committed to providing teacher support and with excellent texts. We expect our teachers to plan active, fun, and well-planned classes. We also have special events and field trips throughout the year in which the staff organizes. This is a great position for a teacher who wishes to work off the beaten path, wants diverse teaching experience, to improve their Spanish as well as learn about the culture of the modern Maya, and of course to work with many delightful students. Job Requirements

  • TEFL/CELTA/TESOL certified

  • Proactive and willing to learn

We are a small language school providing affordable English classes based in a rural Mexican-Maya town about an hour away from Tulum. Our English language program is subsidized by a Spanish immersion program and we offer fully funded scholarships to around 26 local students who would normally be unable to fund such classes. Our English classes help our students go on to further studies and take well paid jobs in areas such as medicine and engineering. Na’atik is a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and donations are tax-deductible.
